Enterprise Estonia Project: European Disc Golf Festival 2024

Project Overview

Estonia is on a mission to become a key player in the global disc golf scene. The journey began in 2023 with Team Discgolf Estonia MTÜ's successful organization of the European Disc Golf Championships at the iconic Tallinn Song Festival Grounds. This event marked Estonia's entrance into the international disc golf arena, showcasing our ability to host major sporting events and drawing attention from the global disc golf community.

Project Goals

The ultimate aim is to bring the prestigious World Disc Golf Championships to Estonia by 2026/2027. This ambitious goal requires a step-by-step approach, escalating through various levels of event organization. Our journey started with the 2023 European Championships, a milestone event that put us on the disc golf world map. Building on this success, the next phase involves hosting a stage of the DGPT Elite Series World Cup in 2024, drawing the world's top disc golf players to Estonia.

Achievements and Future Milestones

Thanks to our exemplary organization of the European Championships, we've secured the right to host a DGPT Elite Series event in 2024 at the Tallinn Song Festival Grounds. This event, scheduled for July 26-28, will see elite disc golfers, including Estonia's finest, compete in a three-round main competition.

Our ambitions extend far beyond the upcoming 2024 event. While the DGPT Elite Series event at Tallinn Song Festival Grounds is a significant milestone, we're already looking ahead. We have successfully bid for and won the rights to organize a Major disc golf tournament in 2025. This achievement is particularly noteworthy as the disc golf Major, much like the Grand Slam in tennis, is a prestigious event with only four such tournaments held globally each year. Our preparation for this major event is underway, demonstrating our commitment to elevating Estonia's status in the international disc golf arena.

Innovation and Sustainability

Our strategy involves innovative solutions previously unseen in the world of disc golf. With Estonia's advanced IT solutions, we aim to elevate the organization and experience of disc golf events to new heights. The sustainability of our project is intertwined with the high organizational standards we've set and demonstrated since the 2023 European Championships.

Our efforts have gained substantial support, including a significant contribution of €74,886 from Enterprise Estonia. This funding is a testament to the potential of our project and the growing importance of disc golf in Estonia.

Conclusion

This journey from the 2023 European Championships to the anticipated World Championships in 2026/2027 symbolizes Estonia's commitment to excellence in sports and innovation. We're not just organizing events but creating memorable experiences for athletes, spectators, and disc golf enthusiasts worldwide. Join us as we continue to make history in the disc golf world!
